Your conversations stay yours.

Twistory runs in your browser. No analytics, no developer server, no selling your data.

What happens on X

When you open someone’s profile or a post, Twistory asks X’s existing search client for replies between you and that person. X handles authentication and receives the search queries under its own policies. The extension receives sanitized posts, a pagination cursor, and fixed error categories.

If that client cannot be found, Twistory can use a temporary, inactive X search tab and read its results. Authentication challenges and rate limits do not trigger this fallback. It does not read or store your passwords, authentication cookies, direct messages, or general browsing history.

A little temporary memory

Results are cached in page memory for five minutes. To keep your place, Twistory also saves each tab’s current conversation view in Chrome’s session storage: the two account handles, up to 40 posts, the selected reply, scroll position, expansion state, and save time.

A view can be restored for 30 minutes after its latest save. It is removed when the tab closes, and Chrome clears session storage when the browser session ends. Conversation views are not synced to a cloud account or saved to persistent local storage. Random ownership tokens and tab IDs are also kept temporarily to manage fallback search tabs.

Only the permissions it needs

Twistory requests access to X/Twitter websites and Chrome’s storage and scripting APIs. Packaged scripts use X’s existing search client and navigation. Clicking a result opens that post; it does not post, like, follow, or send messages. No executable code, advertising, or tracking pixels are downloaded.

A note on older versions

Settings or saved posts from earlier versions may remain in Chrome’s local extension storage, but are no longer used. Uninstalling Twistory removes its extension storage. Any JSON backups you previously exported remain separate files.

About this website

This page has no analytics scripts. Its conversation preview uses selected public profile details and replies supplied by the site owner. These examples are stored with the site; the preview never connects to your X account.
